San Francisco, Calif. and Summit, N.J. (October 14, 2008) - WeissComm Group today announced that it has launched Invigorate Communications, a full-service public relations agency focused on serving the diverse communications needs of leading biopharmaceutical, device, healthcare service and consumer companies, particularly those interested in building health-based brands. Invigorate currently provides corporate, product, investor and advocacy communications support to several biopharmaceutical companies.

Invigorate leverages the success of WeissComm Partners, the largest, independent public relations firm focused exclusively on healthcare, which recently was named “Healthcare Agency of Year” by the Holmes Report.

“Clients have always come to WeissComm for senior level counselors who understand their business better than anyone,” said Jim Weiss, CEO and chairman of WeissComm Group.  “Now Invigorate also provides a team of professionals who are highly knowledgeable and passionate about healthcare and offer a unique combination of intelligence, strategy and hands-on service to support our clients’ core business goals.”

Led by Managing Director Tom Jones, Invigorate Communications is headquartered in Summit, N.J. with offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  Jones was formerly an executive director of communications at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation and an integral leader of Ketchum Public Relations’ healthcare practice.  He has a successful track record of developing and executing award-winning public relations and corporate communications initiatives focused on reaching consumers and encouraging interactive and productive dialogue between patients, caregivers and physicians.

WeissComm also announced that Tali Kaplan, a 20-year veteran of the healthcare industry, has been named associate director of Invigorate.  She joins from CarryOn Communications, where she was responsible for leading that agency’s health and nutrition practice and providing communications support for some of the most familiar and popular consumer brands.  Previously, Ms. Kaplan was vice president of global communications at Baxter BioScience after serving for several years in Baxter’s regulatory affairs group.  A licensed R.N. with clinical experience in neurology/neurosurgery and hospice, she started her biopharmaceutical career in the regulatory affairs department at Genentech where she focused on quality assurance and compliance for the company’s numerous clinical trials.

Invigorate Communications provides a range of services including consumer marketing, healthcare communications, issues and crisis management, corporate reputation, media relations, interactive marketing, corporate and product branding, investor relations, public affairs, advocacy relations and internal communications.

“Because consumers have become increasingly integral to the healthcare decision-making process, Invigorate taps into the ‘consumerization’ of healthcare,” said Diane Weiser, President and COO of WeissComm Group.  “We rely on cutting-edge research and our years of experience to understand what makes our clients’ target audiences tick – and we utilize integrated, highly targeted communications via new and traditional media vehicles that capture their imaginations, stimulate the right conversations and create a call to action.”
